What is RPG (Global Postural Reeducation) — and Why I Use It in My Sessions

At VitalCare, one of the things I am most passionate about is helping people move better, feel better, and reconnect with their bodies in a natural and sustainable way.

One of the methods that has influenced the way I work is RPG — Global Postural Reeducation (Rééducation Posturale Globale). Although the name may sound technical, the idea behind it is actually very simple:

The body works as one connected system.

Very often, pain, stiffness, or poor mobility are not caused by just one muscle or one joint. The body compensates constantly, and tension in one area can create problems somewhere else over time. RPG focuses on understanding those connections and improving the way the whole body moves together.

What Does RPG Focus On?

RPG techniques combine:

  • Postural work

  • Gentle stretching

  • Breathing control

  • Mobility exercises

  • Body awareness

  • Muscle chain release

The goal is not simply to “stretch more” or “exercise harder,” but to help the body move in a more balanced and efficient way.

Who Can Benefit From RPG-Inspired Exercises?

These techniques can be beneficial for many people, including those experiencing:

  • Back or neck tension

  • Stiffness and reduced mobility

  • Poor posture

  • Muscular tightness

  • Stress-related tension

  • General aches and pains from everyday life

  • Recovery after inactivity or injury

You do not need to be athletic or flexible to benefit from this type of work. In fact, many people who attend my sessions are simply looking to feel more comfortable in their own body again.

How I Use RPG Techniques at VitalCare

I regularly incorporate RPG-inspired techniques into both my:

  • Group mobility and wellbeing classes

  • One-to-one personal training and rehabilitation sessions

In group sessions, the focus is often on improving mobility, posture, breathing, coordination, and relaxation in a supportive and welcoming environment.

In personal sessions, I can tailor exercises more specifically to each person’s posture, movement patterns, limitations, and goals. This allows us to work in a more individualised way, whether the aim is pain reduction, improved movement, better posture, recovery, or general wellbeing.

Movement Should Feel Good

One of the most important things I try to teach in my sessions is that movement does not always need to be intense to be effective. Sometimes slowing down, breathing properly, and reconnecting with how the body moves can create very powerful changes over time.

My approach combines knowledge from different disciplines and experiences — including mobility training, rehabilitation, postural work, strength training, breathing techniques, and mindful movement — always adapted to the person in front of me.

If you are curious about this type of training and would like to experience it for yourself, I would love to welcome you to one of our sessions at VitalCare 💙
